10 Best Wedding Movies
In light of Sunday night's Oscars Awards, I have compiled a list of what I believe to be the 10 best movies about weddings. If you are looking for a movie for your next stay at home date night, some comedic relief, or inspiration for planning your wedding; the movies on this list are sure to fit the bill. While watching these movies, I fell in love, I got angry, I laughed, and I cried. These are some of the most romantic and funny movies I have ever seen and I hope you enjoy them too. Crazy Rich Asians(2018)
An American romantic comedy based on Kevin Kwan's book. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, and Michelle Yeoh. Couple Nick and Rachel take a trip to Singapore for Nick’s best friend's wedding. Rachel, a Chinese-American born in New York visits her college roommate in Singapore and finds out her boyfriend’s family is one of the richest families in Singapore. The wedding is by far one of the most extravagant weddings I have ever seen on screen.

My Best Friend's Wedding(1997)
My Best Friend’s Wedding is an American romantic comedy directed by P.J. Hogan and stars Julia Roberts, Durmot Mulroney, and Cameron Diaz. After getting an urgent phone call from her lifelong best friends 3 weeks before her 28th birthday, Jules thinks he wants to talk about the pact they made to marry each other if they were both unmarried at 28. To her surprise, Michael has other news and asks her to fly out to his wedding in 4 days because he can’t do it without her.

The Wedding Date(2005)
Based on Elizabeth Young’s novel Asking for Trouble, The Wedding Date is yet another American romantic comedy directed by Clare Kilner starring Debra Messing and Durmot Mulroney, and Amy Adams. Messing plays Kat, a single woman who is desperate for a date to her sister’s wedding and hires a male escort to save herself from embarrassment. What could possibly go wrong?

The Wedding Planner(2001)
An American romantic comedy directed by Adam Shankman starring Jenifer Lopez and Mathew McConaughey. Lopez plays Mary Fiore, a very successful wedding planner who gets the chance to become a partner in the company she's been busting her butt for if she lands a huge client, but things get complicated when she breaks her one and only rule. She’s always the wedding planner and never the bride right?

Runaway Bride(1999)
Runaway Bride is an American screwball romantic comedy directed by Gary Marshall, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Richard Gere plays a reporter who is struggling to find inspiration for his column where he writes about women who take advantage of men. When he hears a story about a woman(Julia Roberts) in a small town who has left not one, but 3 men at the altar and is supposed to get married in a few weeks time, he cannot resist writing a story. Does she ever make it down the aisle? Or is there a long line of tortured men left in her wake?

Mama Mia!(2008)
Based on Catherine Johnson’s book and songs by pop group ABBA. Mama Mia! is a musical romantic comedy directed by Phyllida Lloyd and stars a cast ensemble including Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried, Stellsn Skarsgard, Meryl Streep, and Julie Walters. A young bride-to-be, Sophie Sheridan(Amanda Seyfried), has grown up on an island in Greece with her single mother where they run a semi-successful villa which will serve as the venue for her wedding in a few days' time. In hopes to discover the truth of who her father is, Sophie invites three men from her mothers past. They are an architect, a writer, and a banker, who will walk her down the aisle when all is said and done?

Table 19(2017)
Based on the writings of brothers Jay and Mark Duplass and directed by Jeffrey Blitz, Table 19 is an American comedy starring Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, June Squibb, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Wyatt Russel, Tony Revolori. Eloise(Anna Kendrick), former maid-of-honor is seated at table 19 with an old nanny, an estranged cousin on parole, a married couple who own a diner , and a high schooler hoping to meet a girl all get seated at wedding table 19, the table of “guests who should have known not to RSVP”. How did she go from maid-of-honor, to unwanted guest?

27 Dresses(2008)
27 dresses is an American romantic comedy written by Aline Mckenna, directed by Anne Fletcher, and stars actors Katherine Heigl and James Marden. Jane(Katherine Heigl) has been obsessed with weddings since she was a little girl. She spends her days pining over her boss and her weekends as a bride’s maid for numerous brides. On one night Jane is the bridesmaid at two weddings happening at the same time when she meets a cynical writer who doesn’t believe in marriage. She’s always the bridesmaid, will she ever be the bride?

Father of the Bride(1991)
Father of the Bride is a comedy starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams, George Newbern, Martin Short, B. D. Wong, and Kieran Culkin. George Banks(Steve Martin) narrates the events leading up to his daughter, Annie’s(Kimberly Williams), wedding after she comes home from Europe to announce she is engaged to a man she has only known for three months. Mr. Banks doesn’t want to give his daughter away and the stresses of planning and paying for a wedding drive him to the edge of his sanity.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding(2002)
My Big Fat Greek Wedding is an independent romantic comedy film directed by Joel Zwick, and written by Nia Vardalos who stars in the film as “Toula” a 30 yr old Greek woman whose large Greek family owns a Greek restaurant and expects her to marry a nice Greek man and have a whole litter of Greek babies. With little to no dating prospects and in need of a major makeover, Toula convinces her father to let her attend classes at a community college and quit her job to work for her aunt’s travel agency where she runs into a tall handsome man, just one problem, he isn’t Greek.
